Thoughts on Robsten and The Tabloid Press

Just what is it about the two lead actors on the Twilight Series and their relationship that drives some mad with excitement and others into showy tantrums?

What a loaded question!  What a way to start out on my new blog!

Still... I  have got this far and the question has bothered me for some time so I shall carry on...

Who knows?  If anyone gets to read this, perhaps I might even get an answer to my questions that makes a modicum of sense.

To begin with - (in case you are unsure) - I am not an R/K shipper as such.  What I am is a woman who fell in love with the Twilight book series and of course the subsequent movies, (and especially the two lead stars, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart).

Over the past couple of years I have watched the careers of these two young folk grow and expand and I must say, I am increasingly impressed.   I have also read all manner of interviews and magazine articles about them both as individuals and together.   Some magazines (Tabloids) are no longer on my list of reading as I find them to be "on another planet", with nothing like a truthful account of anything to do with this young couple.

As I have learned more and more about both Robert & Kristen I find myself liking  them both very much as people, and surprise, surprise! I am absolutely loving the real life love story which seems to be theirs.  I think they are a wonderfully matched, sane and sensible, couple and I believe they have what it takes to make their relationship a lasting one.  So I wish them only good things personally and in their careers and have a fervent hope they are able to maintain their privacy with regard to their private lives.

What about that Tabloid Reporting

I am increasingly concerned about the absolutely abhorrent state (IMO) of the tabloid press.   I am constantly gob-smacked at what is aloud to pass as journalism.   It would appear that reporters are allowed to say whatever they want with impunity and this has me boiling over the injustice I see aimed at this young couple who have done nothing more than give of themselves to their art and their fans.  Just what are all the lies and speculation aimed at?.... As far as I can tell.... Just one thing! Money... $$$$, selling their gossipy little rags to gullible folk who believe the rubbish they print.

Whilst I realize that bad news sells, there does not seem to be one shred of concience at the distress the lies may cause for their targets in these gossipy tabloids, so this leads me to believe that honesty and integrity are no longer a part of the tabloid world!  That the mighty dollar has swamped all!

To be fair though, I guess there are some journos who still adhere to honesty & integrity - but none of them work for the tabloid press.

I ask myself constantly how I would feel if somebody wrote a libelous account of my own personal activities and published it in some tabloid!

The answer that comes back at me is - I WOULD SUE THE CULPRIT FOR ALL THEY HAVE!

Why is it, that there appears to be a different law in existence for public figures/celebrities?

They are people just like you and I!  The major difference is that we are not on public display and they are (not to mention the earnings and lifestyle differences lol), but essentially, they have the same right to privacy as every man Jack or Jill in the normal world.... so why is it so acceptable to folk to go to a magazine stand, pick up a tabloid, read a load of rubbish, then go on about their business, doing nothing about the injustice!

I believe that there should be some amendments to policy and bylaws governing what is acceptable in print.  Just like the recent changes in the Paparazzi by laws... I think the tabloid press now need the same treatment!

Well that would appear to be my rant over... I would be interested in your comments, so please feel free to leave them.

I would remind you the reader though, that this is my blog and these are my personal thoughts and opinions.

Please - may I ask that you keep your comments clean and respectful.
